When you meet Ambika it is obvious she was once a cherished pet and
family member. She is well socialized, loving, talkative, and friendly
to anyone willing to discuss daily events with her. She was taken to a
shelter along with two other cats, Shiva - another Bengal, and Kipton -
the Tonkinese. We are told that they lost their home due to foreclosure
and could no longer afford to keep all of the cats. We also understand
that the Bengals come from some very good lines. Of course, what do we
care about "lines"? What we care about is that Ambika will be a
wonderful family member and a beautiful addition to any home.
Ambika is a typical Bengal and quite the explorer. She will have a
wonderful time in a new home as long as her people know Bengals and know
they want to get into, and on top of, everything. If you're going to die
of embarrassment if your Bengal sits on top of the fridge, be horrified
if she jumps on the counters, or makes herself at home at the tip of the
flat screen TV, well, you need to get a Persian. Okay? The only thing
you'd want to be cautious about is making sure she doesn't find a door
accidentally left open. She would be just curious enough to head out
into the world to see what other wonderful things are there. And we know
that "out there" holds more bad then good for a cat, so let's keep her
inside. Okay?
Ambika is a lover. When she's not busy exploring every inch of the house
she's going to want to sit with you, and will need to follow you from
room to room supervising your activities. After all, she does know best
how things should be done. We expect that she'll also be a lap cat. You
can pick her up, but she may have other things to attend and need to get
moving right away. But again .. the lap time. That's very important cat
work and she'll anxiously fulfill her duties in that realm.
While Ambika came from a home where there were other cats, she'd be just
as happy being an only cat. Her mate is Shiva, and she bosses him
around, but would be happy spending the rest of her life doing just that
if they are adopted as a pair. Or she can be contented just bossing
humans around. It's up to you and Ambika to decide. With a resident cat
already in place, we doubt she'd be super best buddies, so don't get her"because our darling fluffy needs a buddy". Ambika is all about people.
She'll tolerate other cats, but being BFF's with them may not be her thing.
This is an awesome cat. One of the best personalities we've ever seen in
a Bengal. You want to get her NOW.
