CALYPSO
7 yo +/- Tortie Persian

Calypso is Cat #5 from the 25 Persians in Crisis page. She was initially listed as being extremely shy and untouchable. While that was the case when we first met her, that certainly isn't true now! She has blossomed since coming to Rescue and just loves the attention and any affection or playtime she can get. It only took her a few days to start greeting her foster mom at the door. She still prefers not to be picked up. She spent most of her life caged on a flat surface and has little experience being held off the ground. Believe us, though: Calypso is sweet sweet sweet, and she'll be a great friend to you even if you can't just pick her up immediately.

Calypso has a gorgeous flat face and considering her background is probably breeder or show quality. She has big round copper eyes that are healthy and clear, a tiny button nose and the cutest expression you can imagine on her face. She's what her foster mom calls "an itty bitty". Yes, Kimber likes those tiny little Persians. Right now, Calypso is shaved and looking a bit scraggly. We'll send pictures along of her as her coat grows in. Unless of course, you adopt her first. Then you can be the one sending the updates to us!

Calypso gets along with other cats. Her current roommates are cat #17 and Cat #4: Klondike and Pirate. We think she will be fine as an only cat, but would also do well with a nice gentle companion cat. We don't believe she's ever been around dogs, and we don't recommend she go to a home with small children. That might be too overwhelming for her and children like to have a cat they can pick up, so it just wouldn't be a good match.

Physically Calypso had just a few minor challenges to overcome when she got to Rescue. Due to her life in a cage with no vertical space, she had a "hitch in her get along". She didn't walk well, and she was unable to climb. Kimber has an obstacle course set up and Calypso and her two companions are getting used to stretching their legs and using a 2-3' cat scratching tree. They also have learned to climb from that onto a low counter top. Calypso loves her new life, but she will be amazed when she takes the next step. She'll soon get to go out of her private suite and into a real home of her own. We'd love it if she could make just one last move: straight into your home and your heart.
