POPPY
9-10 year old female Chinchilla Persian
February Update: Thank you to everyone that has sent such kind words of encouragement; I must admit I overreacted a bit when Poppy started having issues eating. I took her to see Dr. Metzler for blood work and a checkup on her thyroid. Turns out sweet little Poppy just needed a dental! She had a couple nasty teeth that made it painful to eat, there is no sign at all of any problems with her thyroid and her blood work came back with perfect results! YEAH!
Since she was in pain, we had her dental work done right away and now she is being a little piggy again. Again, thank you to all for your kind thoughts and please feel free to donate some towards her care, there is still lots of life left in this little sweetheart. She would still enjoy being a spoiled rotten only princess, so please contact Jen if you have a wonderful home for her.

December Update: As Poppy’s foster mom, I want to thank everyone who has donated towards her care and previous surgery. The years we were hoping to extend her life are unfortunately not going to be a reality; her health is failing rapidly and I am going to keep her comfortable as long as I can until it is her time to go. Again, I want to thank everyone that has been following her story through our website and please continue to send kind thoughts her way.

Health Update: I’ve been sponsored, thank you Barbara! I’ve had surgery and the doctor was able to completely remove the lump on my thyroid and now I’m as good as new!

Health Update: My fabulous foster mom noticed that I was acting obsessive compulsive about my drinking water and became worried that something might be wrong with my kidneys so she took me to the doctor. The good news is that my kidneys seem to be just fine but the doctor did notice a lump on my thyroid which definitely affects my need to drink a lot of water! The doctor wants to perform surgery on me to remove the lump from my thyroid; she says it’s a pretty easy and very successful procedure that will allow me to live out the rest of my senior years in comfort. The surgery will cost about $400. Yikes! Please help sponsor me so I can have my surgery and enjoy many more years as a spoiled princess! Thanks!

Poppy is really a Princess in disguise. She is one spunky and spoiled little girl! She likes to drink her water out of a coffee cup and please add ice cubes thank you very much. She also likes to chase away other kitties that try to step in her limelight so she would be happiest as the only kitty in your life.
Poppy came to us quite a while ago in horrible condition, she was super thin, anemic, had a slight heart murmur, her fur was completely matted and she had really bad teeth. Her foster mom took excellent care of her and fattened her up some. She was shaved into a lion cut and that alone helped her feel much better. When Poppy finally attained a healthy weight guess what happened? The anemia was gone and her heart murmur went away! Her foster mom sponsored her dental and this little girl is now ready to rule the world! Her beautiful coat is long and full and stays gorgeous with regular daily combing. You really don’t want to miss a day because if she starts to matt up she is a bear to comb! Poppy is such a fun cat, she will tell you all about her day and not so gently remind you to keep her water fresh and full of ice cubes! Just one look into her incredible green eyes will melt your heart. If you have a need for a princess to spoil contact Jen.
