January 7-Final Update: Doeji is finally ready to join his adoptive family! This big boy has had it rough for quite some time before he came into our Rescue. Doeji was emaciated and in terrible shape. Parasites were running rampant through his whole digestive system, invading his organs, nearly destroying him. His fur was thin and bald in many places, ears full of mites. He looked awful!
After loads of medications, huge amounts of quality food, and lots of TLC, this boy has made a dramatic comeback. Doeji has doubled his body weight, and now weighs in at 16.5 lbs. He has been given a clean bill of health from the vet and is parasite free. Doeji will be on a special diet for a while due to the damage that parasites caused, and the medications that it took to rid him of them. Even though Doeji is has recovered well from his ordeal, it will take time for his digestive to completely heal.
Doeji's future is looking bright, and he is ready to made one last journey to his his new home. He will bring much laughter and love with him.
Update 11/6/09: With a new foster home, this handsome boy got a new name as well. White Boy is now responding to the name of Doeji.
Doeji is one heck of a cat! More like a dog, kinda. He is huge! Doeji has a tall, elongated, lanky body frame. He looks to be a lightweight, but not so! This amazing boy is hefty! There is some solid weight on him. Even as hefty as he is right now, Doeji is still underweight for his size. He has filled out in the shoulders and ribs, but is still boney around the hips. Doeji should top out around the 18-20 lb range when fully healthy. Doej has very long legs, so stands quite tall. At his shoulder height, he's almost level with my knees!
Doeji is a total charmer. When he looks at you with those big blue eyes, ahh, it's mesmerizing. It's easy to cave in with whatever he wants. Doeji is very outgoing, social and talkative. He will follow you around the house like a loyal puppy does. Doeji is learning to play with the other cats, chase after balls/toys and just overall feeling good about being a cat. He gets that "frisky" feeling and is happy that he can be free to jump, run and tweek-out. When he's "tweeking", Doeji easily jumps the whole staircase in two leaps.
Doeji is almost ready for his forever home. Doeji will do well in an active home with older kids, other cats and maybe a friendly dog. He is very intelligent and will scope out situations to find a solution that works in his favor. A home for him will need to be aware of this.
Doeji will be ready for adoption in about 2-3 weeks. If you think Doeji will be a great addition to your family, get your application in on him right away. He won't be in foster care for long!

We have White Boy listed as an Oriental Shorthair but all of us here
think there is something more to this cat. Why would this cat be in this
environment? These cats were purchased from quality breeders all over
the country, so why would this random, odd looking boy end up here
unless he was something special, too? He's too big for an Oriental and
he's got those long legs and stronger features ... we think he's got
something else like Savannah in him. But, we'll let the experts tell us
as he fills in. We've been told he looks the way the Europeans breed the
Oriental so maybe he's come a very long way to end up in our foster
system. More than one cat in this bunch has fooled us, that's for sure.
Regardless of his genetic makeup this is one amazing boy. He's a lover.
He gets along with all of the other cats and will back down for the
alpha cats to keep the peace. He wants food, food, and more food. As you
can see he is still gaunt after two weeks in Rescue. We were a little
worried that we were going to lose him when he first got here, but he's
pulled through like a champ. He is gaining weight, he's just got a lot
to put on yet. We are still fine tuning the skin, ears, and intestinal
issues that came along with all of these cats. We're hoping he'll be
available for adoption in a couple of months.
White Boy will be staying
within the Purebreds Plus foster system. We'd love to find a foster home
so that he can have some special TLC during his next few months in
Rescue. Please email us at Info@purebredsplus.org if you think you could
provide a private suite for this cat until he finds his forever home.
